WEEK 3

Ideation, Idea Screening and Selection

What is SCAMPER?

SCAMPER is a checklist to help us organize our thoughts when we are brainstorming.

  • S = Substitute - Substituting part of the problem/product/process for something else.

  • C = Combine - Combining two or more parts of a problem or opportunity to achieve different products to enhance synergy

  • A = Adapt - Adapted to remove the probortunity or think how you could change the nature of it.

  • M = Modify - Changing part or all of the current situation, or to distort it in an unusual way.

  • P = Put to Another Use - How we might be able to put our current solution/product/process to other purposes, or thinking of what we could reuse form somewhere else in order to solve our own problem

  • E = Eliminate - What might happen if you eliminated various parts of the product/process/probortunity.

  • R = Reverse - Think of what you would do if part of your probortunity/product/process worked in reverse or done in a different order.

Week 3: About

We chose Mini Filtration Kit as our final product as it has a score of 275% and it also has easy access to parts for our design and also consumer-friendly as the kit is quite portable to bring around and it costs the lowest among our three ideas.

Week 3: Text

Here the design that our group think of:

Explanation:
This is just a simple design of our Used Cooking Oil(UCO) purifier. It is a medium cylinder that contains stacked filters and cloth mesh to filter the oil. It also has a probe to read the temperature of the oil as the process can only take place at a certain temperature. The design also includes a dispenser to allow the purified oil to be collected. Not only that, but we have also included a quality reader to notify the user of the quality of the oil, green indicating that it is good for use, yellow meaning that it could be used a couple more times and red indicating that it is bad for use and should be disposed of.
