Game Design Challenge

This practical 4, we were assigned to design/create a game that would be enjoyable to play with and appeal to our target audience of students in Primary 3 and 4. So we decided to create a maze for our game idea. We knew this would be difficult because we only had two hours to complete on the actual date, and communication was made difficult due to safety precautions. The image below is an example of a prototype for reference only.

The maze game is a simple game to play, but if it is too basic and plain, people will become bored and stop playing. So our team member, Qusyaie gets an idea to divide the maze into three levels (easy, medium, and difficult), and he also sketches out the maze. To make it more difficult to win, he added the holes, splitter, and hump. When the marble falls through the hole, you must restart from the beginning.

During that day, we followed Qusyaie's sketch and began doing it. While creating, we noticed that the maze has a lot of empty space, so our team member, Seri, had an idea to make a spinner using last week's attachment slot method, but we realized that there's no location to poke the pin to spin the spinner, so we just pasted it instead. We have two hours to finish it. Our group successfully completes the maze. Finally, we had to present our game to our classmates, as well as explain our maze and how to play the game.

Here are a few photos of us working on the project

Here we explain and how to play the maze game

Our Final Product:

Conclusion

We feel that as a group we put in the effort to make the game as simple yet quite difficult to play as that is how people will find it addicting to play and would not be bored after some time. We hope that the students from Primary 3 and 4 are interested in our game. This practical lesson helps us when to do our prototype for our actual product that we will be creating for next week lesson on WEEK 16 and presenting our product on WEEK 17 to our class and teacher.
