WEEK 7
Product Development 1 (CADD)
This week we started our learning journey on Fusion 360, a CADD software. Fusion 360 offers product concept development and iteration, as well as cooperation among a distributed product development team, and blends organic shape modelling, mechanical design, and production in a single comprehensive package.

We were tasked with designing a keyring using a tutorial video and instructional worksheet as a warm-up before the actual lecture. We then try to design the keyring. Our members, Qusyaie and Vignesh have difficulty designing as two of us were inexperienced with this software. They feel frustrated as we can't find the location where certain features were.

- As for Qusyaie, this is his first time, I find it hard to move around as it has a 3D and 2D mode which you can observe the dimensions and depths of the design which I felt quite annoyed at first but as time went by it becomes quite easy to play around and practice with the things.
- As for Vignesh, I was overall very confused with what was going on as there were many options and seemed very complicated, causing me to feel intimidated. Even by following the tutorial videos, I was very lost and kept needing to undo due to the numerous mistakes I made such as choosing the wrong option. However, after a while, I got familiarized with the application, which made it easier for me to follow and play around to achieve the design.
- On the other hand, Seri learned it during her previous course, so it is a great refresher for her to recall the locations and purposes of the various functions and the things to keep in mind and avoid while using the software.
During the lesson, the teacher demonstrated to the class how to use and sketch constraints. While the teacher demo to the class As for Qusyaie and Vignesh, are still struggling to find the constraints so they ask Seri to teach them how to do. They managed to finish it.
ACTIVITY
Next activity, we were asked to design a 4R frame as a group. So we divided the parts so that each person gets to contribute.
Frame & Back of the frame - Seri
Frame support - Vignesh
Glass - Qusyaie
Seri did the frame while telling the members the dimensions and thickness. She suggests 190 x 150 mm since the 4R photo is 152 x 102 mm and the thickness is 3.5mm. The glass and the frame support thickness is 2mm. As for the Frame support, the dimensions were also 190 x 150 mm. Then we had to remove a huge section of the frame support to achieve a "u-shaped" figure. We did that by using the 'center rectangle' option to select the area that we were going to remove. Lastly, we filleted the corners before extruding.
OUR FINAL PRODUCT
Overall, we were satisfied with our frame since we each did our parts and worked together as a team. We were able to communicate well with each other despite the odds of doing it online and achieving the final product. We also found Fusion360 really interesting and fun to use once we got the hang of it.
