We were introduced to materials for design and how to choose the best materials for our product. We were taught that a suitable material option would be one having property features that meet or surpass the requirements of a product while also posing no production issues and being reasonably priced.
We did an activity in which we searched for a material that could be a direct replacement for another in an existing product without requiring any design changes, as well as usage for this material in an existing product that could only be made possible by a design change.
We were unable to physically see the wall of materials at the SP Library due to covid-19 constraints, but we were supplied with a website that contained a very complete list of all the products as well as very extensive descriptions/features and uses of each item.
Fortron® PPS is the product that our group chose.
